10 Things I Love: Winter Edition
Bone broth, my favorite book, a free Internal Family Systems workshop, lavender oil and more things I love this winter.
There’s definitely a demarcation between holiday winter and the winter we’re in now. These quiet, dark, cold months feel like an invitation to get cozy, process things I haven’t had time to sit with and do the behind the scenes creative work no one sees. It feels like the rest of the year is when I create the puzzle pieces of my life, and these winter months are when I get to sit quietly and see which ones fit together.
Those of you who have been here for awhile know that 10 Things is an ongoing series I write with the seasons. It was our most popular series before we moved to Substack, and I’m excited to be writing it here for the first time. If you can’t tell, I really love Substack :) Without further ado, here are 10 things I’m loving this winter.
I’ve seen references to a therapeutic model called Internal Family Systems (IFS) everywhere recently. This free video with the founder of IFS, Richard Schwartz + Dr. Becky is a great primer. I felt physically lighter after watching. I just ordered his book too.
I love sipping on this bone broth in the winter. It’s a soothing and ready in 1 minute snack with tons of health benefits.
My daughter and I both love this lavender oil before bed. It’s become a sweet routine we do together that calms both of our nervous systems.
A Map for the Missing is my favorite book I read in 2023. More on this soon!
I’ve been watching and reading everything in these super cozy cashmere socks, which just feel so good to put on at the end of a long day.
This is my favorite winter dinner recipe my family loves. It’s not a quick weeknight meal, but it’s the perfect cozy Sunday recipe that makes my house smell like home.
Saltburn is as good as everyone says. If you have kids, don’t watch with them :)
I now know why this facial oil concentrate has a cult following. Full disclosure: it’s expensive and was generously gifted to me by the brand. That being said, it’s honestly incredible.
This free seven minute loving-kindness meditation is a great back pocket tool for those days.
By now everyone knows about my love for this coat, which lets me leave the house in sweatpants and still look dressed. Code Olivia20 will give you 20% off (it works on any non-sale item too).
That’s it for now! See you next week.
Love so many of the things on this list!!!!!
