Welcome to At the Market, your place to browse what’s in season in the Land of Oaks and Roses.
My daughter is going to Kindergarten and my son is starting preschool for the first time. Ah! Needless to say, back to school is on my mind. My daughter used this little backpack for her entire preschool career and it’s finally time to get a new, bigger kindergarten backpack. We (it’s definitely a we as she now chooses everything herself) have been deep diving into world of kid’s backpacks. Here’s the best of what we found:
Brands
State - We’ve used and loved State for years. For sold out styles, this and this are good places to doublecheck.
Skiphop - Proof that you don’t need to spend a lot on your kid’s backpack. I especially love this option for preschoolers. My 2-year-old used this one for camp this summer.
Lund London - Very sweet prints at another nice price point here, here and here.
Crate & Kids - Tons of great choices here too.
Little Chicken - I sense this will be my daughter’s ultimate pick… we shall see.
Josie Joan’s - Under $60 choices for Liberty print lovers. See here for a US retailer.
Boden - A solid one with both floral and dino options.
Pottery Barn - Another great and very popular option.
My Top 3
If I had 100% say (I don’t) over my kid’s backpacks here would be my top 3 for each:
S, Age 2, Preschool: here and here + if I had a little girl going to preschool it would be this.
P, Age 5, Kindergarten: here and here (sensing a theme?) + if I had a little boy (who loves sports like mine does) in grade school it would be this.
See you next week!
