Welcome to At the Market, your place to browse what’s in season in the Land of Oaks and Roses.
Kids clothes are somewhat of an obsession of mine. I can’t think of anything I enjoy buying more. I don’t buy a lot, but I do buy pretty thoughtfully. I think about my kid’s immediate needs (ok wants too), and also about who will wear the clothes next. At least a quarter of my littlest’s wardrobe are clothes my oldest once wore. I will admit that I even have a bin set aside for my future grandkids of the extra special things I’ve saved from my kids (I told you it’s an obsession). I was sorting through some of my kids clothes bins this week and fell in love with my favorite pieces all over again. It was easy to notice a pattern in terms of what brands lasted long enough to be saved or handed down. Here’s a peek into the brands and specific pieces in my littles archive or on their way there. Enjoy!
Quincy Mae Organic Knitwear - I don’t know what it is about this knitwear but every piece from my daughter is still in great condition for my son now. They make great colors for sharing between girl/boy siblings too.
Classic Velvet MJs - A classic for a reason. We’ve had the navy since October and they’re still in great shape.
Boden Outerwear - My daughter’s winter coat is the item I get asked about the most on a day-to-day basis these days. Her specific coat is sold out (I will share earlier next time!) but I have my eye on this one and this one for the Spring for both kids.
Apolina - One of my all time favorites that gets saved or handed down every time. This is one of those brands you have to shop when the new collection drops. Check back here for a store that ships from the US.
Poplin Button Downs - I wanted to find some special pieces for my son that I could save in the same way that I have for my daughter’s dresses. These are so sweet and a touch cooler than your heavier, classic cotton button down (code OLIVIA15 will give you 15% off at checkout.)
Hannah Andersson Leggings - I buy this legging every year in the next size. The smaller sizes have made it into every hand me down bin.
Konges Slojd - This brand is a great alternative to Hannah Andersson. The clothes are equally durable but more unique.
Louisella - Sweetest things ever.
Egg Pajamas - These pajamas were passed down to my son from a friend. He’s worn them for over a year! I’m amazed by how they’ve held up.
Oso & Me Monogram Onesies - These are so soft and extra special as a piece to save because of the monogram option. The best newborn gift too (code OLIVIA15 will give you 15% off at checkout)
Doen Mommy & Me - What’s special about this brand is the adult pieces are things I love and want to wear even after my daughter outgrows the kids version.
Little Sleepies PJ Sets - Another PJ brand my kids adore. They are in surprisingly great shape one year+ in.
Nellie Quats - Darling x100 with an added bonus that their combination of prints and fabric are durable too.
Rylee + Cru - One of my favorite places to find special things for boys once they turn 2.
Lola and The Boys - I don’t think my daughter has ever loved a dress more.
Pink Chicken - Another favorite, especially for warm weather.
Makie Onesies - Makie’s store was on our street when we lived in Manhattan so I have an extra special place in my heart for these. They are saved in my grandkids bin :)
Oeuf Everyday Cardi - If you live in NYC, it’s mandatory that you attend this annual sample sale in Brooklyn (join their email list to find out when/where this year.) If you don’t, this sweater is still my favorite and currently on sale if your size is left!
