At The Market: The Realest Wardrobe Essential
Two essential sweat sets. Plus, some great things I've gotten in the mail.
Left: Gap Sweatshirt, Gap Joggers. Right: The Great College Sweatshirt, The Great Stadium Sweatpant.
Meet my two beloved black sweat sets. They seem the same in pictures but they’re actually different in terms of feel, design details and price. I’m not here to tell you that one is better than the other because I love them both. I wear them constantly. I’m talking a minimum of three times a week! They are the perfect thing to throw on after a shower when it’s too early for PJs, the ideal kid mess resisters and somehow look just put together enough on zoom calls (the black makes it hard to tell that it’s a sweatshirt on screen). I could find a use for them everyday. You see why I’m happy to have two sets! Let’s break them down a bit.
The Gap Version
The Gap sweatshirt and sweatpant stand out because of their sturdiness. There’s weight to the fabric. I’ve worn this set fifty plus times. These pieces have been through a lot and they can handle it! Together, they create a solid black outfit. There aren’t any contrasting design details here. The cuffs are banded but that’s about it. The fabric is pre-washed for softness but it doesn’t have an overly worn in or vintage feel (despite the product name.) It feels more classic to me.
The Great Version
The Great sweatshirt and sweatpant have a decidedly vintage feel. It really does feel lived in. The fabric is very soft. The sweatshirt is intentionally worn in around the collar and there’s a frayed slit on the left cuff. There’s also a white drawstring on the sweatpants of this version, which breaks up the all black. There’s something more delicate about this version although I’ve worn it dozens of times without injury. This set has a bit more of a design perspective while still being a staple.
The net: I love them both.
Plus, some great gifts
Even when I genuinely love something, I always want to be transparent about the things I don’t pay for. I’ve started receiving a lot of gifts from brands since joining ShopMy. It’s a really fun part about writing this newsletter! Below are the gifts I’ve especially appreciated. Whenever I’m gifted something, I always ask for a discount code for you all. Those are also included below where available. Enjoy!
- I’ve been using the True Botanicals vitamin C booster for years but they recently sent me some products I hadn’t tried before: Renew Chebula Serum, Pure Radiance Oil, and the Biotin Booster. I just really love and recommend this skincare brand. I noticed a visible difference from using these products for about a month. Plus, everything is clean. Code OLIVIA15 will give you 15% off sitewide.
- Larroudé sent me these boots, which I am obsessed with. That shade of brown is really a favorite. I remember their founder, Marina, from my fashion PR days so it was fun to see what she’s created too.
- Clare V. sent me this sweatshirt and bag. The bag I’m saving for warm weather but the sweatshirt is in the once a week rotation. It’s incredibly soft and cute.
-Rixo sent me this polka dot dress and I can’t wait for an excuse to wear it.
- Mille sent me this button up top and this white top. It’s been too cold to wear them but I know they’ll be in heavy rotation come warmer weather. Code OLIVIA15 will give you 15% off sitewide.
- I’ve talked about this coat before but I have to give it one last love note as it’s actually become the most bought item of any product I’ve ever posted! Code OLIVIA20 will give you 20% off sitewide on non-sale items.
See you next week!
