Rose Garden // January 2026
Cozy, warm, small, beautiful things.
Welcome to Rose Garden, your monthly delivery of 5 small beautiful things from Land of Oaks and Roses.
The Chinese Tea:
This Chinese teapot has the style I’m drawn to: relaxed, rooted in nature, artful.
There’s definitely a Chinese moment happening in style right now. When my grandma immigrated to San Francisco from Shanghai in the 50s she designed clothes, and eventually opened her own shop in Chinatown there. I wish she were alive so I could ask her if she likes Róhe’s pankou pieces as much as I do. But I have a feeling she would have responded with this warm, subtle chuckle and smile she used to give me. A sign of amusement. I loved Zara Wong’s take too!
Heart the Lover
I finished this book in 3 days.
I Don’t Know How She Does It:
Two antidotes to the 3rd episode of Tell Me Lies (wtf was that?):
This movie isn’t new but it’s cozy, sweet and so relevant to our day-to-day. Next on my list is Lilith Fair thanks to Carly Martin! I’ve been blasting I Don’t Want to Wait in the car since watching the trailer.
Much Needed
Wow have I noticed a difference with this! It’s not that I don’t feel stress. It’s more that the feeling stays below that highest, hottest octave. I used to think I wanted to work on all these things (energy, focus, weight, sleep, not getting frustrated with my kids…) but taking this has helped me see that stress is the root of it all for me.
*Needed gifted me a few different products to try this month but I will definitely be reordering this one myself.
1993
Bringing it back to tea! Who else misses Grace Coddington’s editorials? She did storytelling so, so well. I loved revisiting this 1993 image in Zoë Yasemin’s newsletter.
Wishing you a cozy and warm January.
Don’t give up on beauty.
With much love,
Olivia

Under the Oaks // Turn a Birthday into a Love Letter
I think real giving is rare. And requires some self-inquiry. The place I’ve done that most is in my marriage.

Beautiful.
Wait how have I never seen "I Don't Know How She Does It"?! Adding to my snowy weekend queue!
