Welcome to The Rose Garden, your place to find small beautiful things in the Land of Oaks and Roses.
One of my favorite things about this time of year is watching plants start to peek out from the cold, sometimes even icy, ground. My kids will shriek, “Mom look! Blooming!” We stop often to take a closer look because it feels so special. After everything, there they are again. Isn’t this all our stories?
A few things about these right before Spring plants that might help us think about our own growth too:
The energy needed for blooming is gathered in the dark when there’s nothing to see above ground.
Sometimes the sun shines and growth starts, but then a freezing day comes, and the plants have to start all over again.
Different plants bloom at different times. A plant doesn’t change pace because another plant across the street started blooming first.
The plants have no control over the sun or the temperature. The conditions don’t get better because the plants worked harder, or thought more. The conditions for growth arrive one day because that’s just the natural order of things.
Hope you spot some of this early growth wherever you are!
With much love,
Olivia

Small Beautiful Things: 7 Travel Heroes
Hi friends! Welcome back. Despite runny noses and not enough time to pack, we’re in Palm Beach this week. My husband had work here so we made an adventure out of it. None of us had been here before. Here are 7 things I’m so glad I brought on this trip to give you a head start on wherever you’re going next!
I'm in Connecticut and spring is not quite here - YET! But I am starting to hear the birds returning and I heard night peepers last night!
Loved it!
